Chapter 13: Fertilizer starts during the evening of 2nd October and follows Rue during a nightly patrol that goes awry.
Synopsis[]
Rue eats dinner with her family, still angry at Tessa questioning her magical girl status. Her brother finds it amusing and her mother brings up her concerns about fighting alone, but Rue brushes both of them off, cherishing her alone time.
Rue encounters an aggressive monster near her house and injures herself with her explosives. Overexerted from healing herself, she heads off to a safety center but is waylaid by the monster she thought she thought she had destroyed earlier. She runs into a narrow alleyway, recalling her parents' urgings for her to team up, only to see a mysterious purple arm direct the back half of the monster to her. Trapped between the two halves, she prepares to use her explosive at close-range but is saved from this at the last second by Zoe, who hits both halves of the monster with her slingshot rounds, disabling them long enough for Rue to finish them off with her last potion.
Rue passes out, waking up later in the recovering center with Zoe. She brushes off the attendant who attempts to encourage her to register and doesn't feel comfortable letting her leave.
Zoe accompanies Rue home and admits she had been going out for weeks, but had never been able to work up the courage to fight before. She feels guilty for not doing more after being given the dream, but Rue rejects the logic, saying she doesn't owe anyone anything and had already saved one life.
When the arrive home, Rue's mother chides her for staying out late, but Zoe claims Rue was helping her out. Her mother's anger dissipates at the prospect of Rue finally teaming up and gives Zoe her phone number. Zoe, who had worried she would always be fighting alone, heads back to her own place.

The interstitial shows the Purple One angry at being unable to kill Rue, blaming on "too many magical girls" and decides change her approach.
The guest page is by artist Saane and shows Team Alchemical relaxing in a swimming pool. Sally pressures Undine to use her powers to launch them in the air.
The final bonus page has Anemone explaining Fright Night, the city's version of Halloween.
